Marahuyo Art Projects presents two women artists from varying backgrounds and contexts. Despite this, a resonating theme uncovers the connection between their divergent points of reference. Anne Lacaba, a Filipino artist from Pangasinan, provides social commentary in her works set in a surrealist landscape. Her paintings center around themes of mental illnesses, environment, war, and politics. Meanwhile, Haruka Sato is a Japanese artist based in Tokyo. She portrays the archived memories of the everyday which she presents like a diary.

At a moment's glance, the two projects seemingly follow separate tangents of thought. But looking closer, their common ground lies in their desire to mark their existence through varied visual expressions. The juxtaposition of the works presents a colorful explosion of moments that insist to be remembered against a fast-changing, content-driven, and plague-stricken world. Their distinct artistic processes are sharply highlighted as their emotional response to their shared themes integrate itself into their works. In marking their existence, the two narratives reveal a fundamental human impulse to carve our niche into the world.
